It’s every car enthusiasts dream for their project to be nationally recognized, but this wasn’t just some far-fetched idea for the Maxx2Racing Team, it’s a reality. This is their award-winning 1999 Firebird.
Are you ready for an insight into awesomeness?
A quick look at this 1999 Firebird
This special car, aptly named ‘Stealth’, is capable of a street legal 200mph and features the traditional SBC 350/GMPP ZZ4 LT Motor that’s been modified to an impressive 525 bhp output.
This isn’t your average car and not something that can be bought but it’s a testament to the car builders out there who have that hunger to develop something that really is unique. The car includes a K&N/Spectre Performance ‘Ram Air’ System, UMI Performance Suspension, a Canton Accusump Pre-Oiling System and a Bowtie Overdrives 4L60 (non-computer) Stage V transmission. But this car isn’t all about being high-end, it’s a comfortable car with safety being the top priority which means its Roll Cage and the 9inch Ford Full Floating Rear End (that’s been narrowed by 4 inches) are good enough for NASCAR. Impressive, right?
A look at the interior
The interior of the car is fully carpeted (courtesy of Covercraft Industries) and Ultra Shield Race Products provided matching seat upholstery which means the car is looking pretty good on the inside as well as the outside.
The future of Stealth
But the car is a long way from being finished and is going through a constant upgrade cycle as the team outfit it for the next event. Plans for the future include a controlled Nitrous System and a Rear Diffuser Panel to keep the car on the ground, not to mention other exciting – and definitely necessary – parts to prepare the car for Autocross, short Rally and timed Motorsports events. There’s a lot to look forward to for the Maxx2Racing Team that’s for sure!
Now that you’ve got your head around the nitty gritty of the car build, let’s take a look at its impressive achievements.
In 2013, Covercraft featured Stealth the SEMA show and then in 2015, the car went on to be featured by TriboDyn Performance Lubricants. Alongside begin the featured car, the Maxx2Racing Team found themselves listed in the top 200 finalists of the 2015 SEMA Battle of the Builders. This year has already proved to be even better than the last with Stealth winning Best In Class/UNLIMITED 2016 Sacramento Autorama Show.
The realization that they were on the same stage as the best builders in the country gave the team an experience they are likely to never forget and have been invited to the Sacramento Autorama’s 2017 show in February, where they hope to scoop another ‘Best In Class’, same with the GoodGuys Get Together this coming November in Pleasanton, CA.
With the prestigious Autorama trophy under its belt, Stealth is getting noticed and the team have already been invited to multiple top car events throughout the western area of the country as well as some upcoming Autocross and short Rally events. How exciting!
Here’s a big congrats to the team and fingers crossed for the future – who knows, maybe we’ll be seeing Stealth again very soon with more exciting news?
