What if every day on your ride home from work you came across an old car truck that sparks your imagination?
Today we’re going to be taking a look at Craig Morrison’s 1950 Chevrolet Pickup Truck and that’s exactly what he did.
Owner of Art Morrison Enterprises, Morrison is renowned for being a creative and unique car designer. He takes old models and turns them into modern machines with custom built and ready-made chassis.
Art Morrison’s new project
So he found himself this old Chevy truck, took it home and began to fiddle with a custom chassis, suspension and engine in order to turn it into the unbelievable pro-touring/resto mod hot rod truck you see before you now.
After designing a new chassis ideal for the 1947-1953 Chevy trucks, Morrison took this Chevrolet 3100 pickup truck and used it to showcase the new design.
Under the hood is the GM performance parts turnkey HO350 crate motor which is a complete package engine. There were a few alterations and tweaks to improve
Drive get an endless number of emails containing submissions for Big Muscle but then Morrison called up to say he’d built a new cool Chevy Truck, they knew they couldn’t resist. The Art Morrison reputation is so good that Drive knew it would be something worth seeing.
The appeal of the 1950 Chevy pickup truck
If you’re completely honest, you’ll have noticed that this isn’t your average pickup. It’s not exactly a mainstream model and that’s one of the reasons why I chose to feature it today. Morrison’s Grandfather used to own a similar truck when he was about 8 years old – a 1946 GM pickup – and the fond memories surrounding that old truck are what led Morrison to this one.
But there was another reason behind his choice, and that was the new chassis I mentioned earlier. It wasn’t about creating a touring car but Morrison wanted to provide owners with a chassis that they could build upon to create a cool hot rod truck.
What are your thoughts on this truck? I’m a fan but I know pickups aren’t to everyone’s tastes – share your thoughts in the comments below!
